Benefits of Vitamin-C for skin

Vitamin-C is called as skin vitamin for all the good reasons—doctors love it, it is always a part of any skincare routine, a conversation about bright skin, and without vitamin-C, flawless skin might just be a distant dream. It is a powerful vitamin has been continuously climbing the beauty ladder and gaining popularity for its potent ability to naturally improve skin, protects skin from dark spots, improve collagen production to save skin sagging, improves fight signs of aging & helps fighting cold and flu from the inside the body.  It also boosts glow of skin and evens out your complexion.

But how does it do all this? We asked Gurgaon based dermatologist Dr Jyoti Malik, founder Kutiz Skin Clinic to tell us more about the miracle vitamin that can make your skin cross over to the bright side.

How exactly Vitamin-C work on your skin?

Vitamin C (L-ascorbic acid) is easily soluble in water. It is a powerful antioxidant present in the epidermis as well as dermis of the human skin. As it’s water soluble, it’s not stored in the body in significant quantity and the excess that is being consumed gets eliminated through waste of the body. This is why regular consumption is very important. As an antioxidant, Vitamin C neutralizes free radicals inside the skin. It is anti-inflammatory, hence it helps in healing and hydrating the skin too. It also has amazing anti-ageing effect as it boosts the production of collagen, which helps to reduce the wrinkle formation.
